Submission Rules and FAQ

READ THIS!
We mean it: Submission without reading these rules results in immediate Denial.

Greetings from Adepta-Librica!
Here are a couple of things you'll want to know before you submit to the vaults of the Librica:
The Librica focuses solely on superior prose, because we are supercilious pricks. We will not accept any half-assed work.

When submitting, one must follow these rules :
1.: Submit what you have determined to be genuinely good material.
2.: If you're going to submit it, then be sure it's something people would want to read. Make sure that you think it would have been worthy of publication, forgiving a few artistic liberties.
3.: Episodic content (larger works in progress divided into parts) will be permitted, but no half-done pieces. I can't imagine this being necessary to say, but you never know...
3b.: In regards to series - that's chapters which are part of a longer running series - we only admit the first 3 parts. This is to keep the Adepta's gallery relatively clean and easy to browse.
4.: Take a step back and evaluate your work dispassionately and objectively.
5.: After all that, submit only what you're truly proud of! If you don't think it's worthy of having your name on it, don't submit it!

Adepta Librica FAQ
Failure to read this before complaining to the Group Admins will result in censure.

How do you define quality literature?
Literature that isn't full of typos, has proper grammar, follows the rules for writing a story and has a certain level of quality in the prose. It also comes down to how well characters are constructed and if the plot follows the canon of Warhammer 40k.

Wait? Do you mean it must follow the Wh40k canon strictly? Or is there leeway?
The Founder and Co-founder(s) of the group are aware that at times, some bending of the canon of 40k is necessary to make a good story great. Dan Abnett, and most other Black Library authors, knows how to do this without enraging an entire fandom.
What we don't see as acceptable are things that break the internal rules of Wh40k, such as female Space Marines, fat Eldar and Khornate sorcerers. There are of course more instances, and in some of the more widespread misconceptions' cases (bolters described as working as machine-guns and lasguns having recoil), judgement will be passed on a case by case basis.

You said nothing about, err, shall we say: fan-service material?
We didn't, but the answer is short: no. We don't accept "fan-service material" because the explicitly sexual nature in them is against dA policy concerning pornographic literature.
FAQ #251: You prohibit the submission of 'pornographic literature'; what do you consider this to be?
Of course, considering how peculiar some people's fetishes are, we can't vouch that some of the explicitly violent things going on in the 40k-verse won't please some individuals.

Speaking of explicit violence: are you strict about Mature-tagging?
Not more strict than dA's Terms of Service. If you have a very suggestive and descriptive way of writing combat scenes, and know it, please put a Mature-tag on it. If you forget, you will get a friendly reminder upon acceptance.

Back to the issue of quality: who decides what is quality or not?
The Founder and Co-Founder(s). If you disagree with a decision and wish to discuss it, note them.

You didn't accept my submission, why?
Because we probably felt it didn't live up to the quality standard of the group. See above for contacting the admins for clarification on the decision.

I don't like the way you run things here!
Nothing is stopping you from creating your own group, you know...
